Abstract calla

Trying to do abstraction in the style of an artist I much admire, Hiroshi Sato.  I'm trying to look at is as a learning experience even though the painting doesn't really work in my opinion.

Sunflowers and thistles

My friend Ralph sent me a photo he took on his deck last fall of sunflowers and thistles, and I finally got around to painting it last week.  I gave it as a birthday gift to my wonderful daughter Laura for her 28th birthday yesterday.  Happy birthday Laura!
