Seeing double

The Manhattan project
Nothing quite like a good Manhattan. This is one my friend Clay made for me in the Before Time. He gets credit for teaching me that the secret to a good Manhattan is the vermouth--specifically, Antica Formula. Cheers.

Red onion and shallot

Sunflowers and thistles
My friend Ralph sent me a photo he took on his deck last fall of sunflowers and thistles, and I finally got around to painting it last week. I gave it as a birthday gift to my wonderful daughter Laura for her 28th birthday yesterday. Happy birthday Laura!
